4 Reasons Why Children Should Not Be On Social Media

"Today, spend a little time cultivating relationships offline. Never forget that everybody isn't on social media."
 - Germany Kent

I have been on social media for a while now and I have seen and experienced all good and bad things about it. I'm already past adulthood when I joined the bandwagon.

There is nothing really wrong about joining social medias. There, we can share ideas and thoughts, find and talk to old friends and organizing events These are the things I like about it.

The trolls, hate and atrocities is what I don't like. They all feel like GOD is behind the keyboard and share hate to other users. Imagine that being done by a minor?

Below are the reasons why I don't make any social media accounts for my children
  • They are introduced to the real world. For now, I just want them to experience their childhood. Seeing them happy and discover things for themselves without the help of social medias. I just want them to live the moment.
  • They won't be attention seekers. They will not have any idea of seeking attention from others. Yes, I am quite protective of my children and I want them to seek attention from us parents for now.
  • They will lose physical connections. In social medias, you are just virtually connected. If they experience this at an early age, they will not experience physical connection and bonding. They will, eventually be loners and cannot socialize with others.
  • Exposed to hate, scandals and trolling. At a young age, children cannot understand these things. And I don't want their minds to be polluted with hate and pornography.

For me, I want my children to experience what is life without social medias. Their time would come to have one and make sure that they are already responsible users of these platforms by then.
